Kenting 春呐

The 春呐 music festival is a once a year event. Everyone from all over Taiwan will come to Kenting every year for this festival. It features all the artists and musicians from all over the world and Taiwan. Kenting is flooded with people just this period of the year and everything is very expensive. Accomodation, scooters and food all doubled their price. So be prepared to pay more if you are coming around this period.

The best way to explore Kenting is by scooter. So, my friends and I decided to scoot our way there to Kenting. The journey from Kaohsiung to Kenting took about 3 hours. Although it is a bit long but it is full of surprises and beautiful scenery. I would strongly recommend scooting there. Along the way, there are many places where you can eat and rest.

This shop is famous for its pig trotter and this is really good.

The pig trotter is damn nice. The meat is tender and the fats heavenly. OMG. coupled with the sauce and i tell you, this is one exceptional porky experience. Not only the pig trotter is nice, there are other dishes that is worth mentioning too.

Upon reaching Kenting, we scoot to our Min Su. The min su i booked is very hard to find. It is in some back alley and you have to navigate tight bends and small roads before reaching. When i reached the place, i was blown away. This is a hidden gem.

 

The best part of it, there is a spectacular seaview from the room. Open the windows and you feel the sea breeze from the pacific ocean.

Taiwan concert are way damn cool. The price you pay is reasonable and the crowd is like half of what you get in Singapore. The taiwanese artists are also very entertaining and they really do know how to interact with the crowd.

Xiao Jing Teng

Kenting is famous for its beaches and how can i miss the opportunity to lie down on the white beaches and soak in the pacific ocean ?

You can try the watersports here. If i didnt remember wrongly, it is about 500NTD per person and you will be able to choose 3 out of the 6 options available. The price can be bargained down further if you are aggressive but dun bargain too hard! Later they might just dump u in the water while you are riding your banana boat.

Sun Moon Lake

After our Alishan trip, we took a bus and travel along the central mountain road "中央山脉" and went Sun Moon Lake. The journey is about 3 hours long and travelling by a private taxi costs 600NTD per person. The driver is a very interesting person. He has been ferrying customers from Alishan to Sun Moon lake for a very long time. He will take you to many places of interests along the way and talk cock with you.

The area near the sun moon lake was hit badly by the typhoon last year. A lot of destruction are still visible.

Sun Moon lake is called that what because it resembles a sun and a moon. haha. i have totally no idea how it looks like a sun and a moon.

One of the attraction located in Sun Moon Lake is a culture centre cum theme park. This culture centre showcases all the cultures of the aboriginals of taiwan. There are a total of 9 aboriginals and this place is called 九族文化村. In order to reach the place, you will have to take cable car there.

The rides over there are damn good. it is one of the best theme park ive been to. The rides are exciting and relatively new. The crowds were not that much when i went, making the whole trip very enjoyable.

Other than just the theme park, there is also a cultural centre. The performance of the aboriginals was good. They are telling about a love story of different tribes and the courting process of different tribes.

After our trip in Sun Moon Lake, we went back to Kaohsiung before preparing for our trip to Kenting for the Music Festival. 春呐。
